Housing in the Queendom of Evlantis

Each of the Queendom’s six Low Queens must reside in a castle in the sector they rule. Each sector has at least one castle. The High Queen must reside in the People’s Palace. Image from Pexels.

The mission of the Queendom of Evlantis is to provide stable homes for women to raise their daughters in. The population of the city is held as close to six-thousand women as huwomanly possible. Housing is maintained, rather than built. There are times structures may be torn down to build anew, but it requires a great deal of red tape. It is more common for women to be required to exchange houses based on status changes.

Each sector may have as many as a dozen or more empty houses at any given time. Each sector arranges for caretakers for the empty houses—a low status job—until such time as they are filled. This helps with the natural flow of status changes, as well as women coming of age and moving out of their mother’s houses, and vacancies due to death.

If a woman feels she merits a better home due to a positive status change, she must apply to her sector’s housing committee. If she is turned down, she may appeal to the Government sector’s Queendom Housing committee. Is she still doesn’t get a ruling in her favor she may take her case to the People’s Court.

Reasons why a woman may apply for a bigger home:

Birth of a daughter.

Need to take care of elderly mother.

Becoming an elected official.

In addition to applications for housing change, there are times when the High Queen or Low Queens may reassign residencies, both for the better or for the worse.

Better housing may be given as a reward for making a significant contribution to the Queendom or sector, such as: curing a disease, creating a masterpiece, increasing the Queendom’s resources.

Better housing can be assigned as a reward for a favored supporter or close friend.

A down grade in housing may happen to punish an opponent.

A down grade in housing may also be part of a punishment for crimes committed.

If a Queen mandates that you must vacate your house for someone more deserving, there is no  way to appeal the decree. The woman being ousted must make do in whatever residence she is assigned to.

Housing for the Queens

Each Sector has at least one palace and a newly elected Low Queen takes up residency in their sector’s palace upon taking office. They have the right to have their former residence maintained until their seven year term is up, or to bequeath their former home to anyone they want and choose a new home when they no longer hold office.

The High Queen lives in the People’s Palace, built near the ocean, where all six sectors meet. Every citizen of Evlantis has the right to enter certain parts of the Palace at certain times of the day. The High Queen’s living quarters, of course, are private.
